It is the cheapest car on the African continent, a compact city car that over time has earned a reputation as a reliable car. Its price starts at US$11,181. Safety equipment is very limited. No version has ABS brakes, therefore stability control (ESP) is not available either. The Sport versions have only one airbag, two at most in the Full and X-Line versions. In addition, only the X-Line version has ISOFIX anchors.

In the cabin, no version has a color multimedia screen from factory, although it is likely that one could be installed locally with a rearview camera in some versions. In the Sport versions only the front windows have electric lift and the radio does not have Bluetooth. It changes from the Full version with power windows front and rear, as well as Bluetooth compatibility. The Kia Picanto X-Line differs with an exclusive body and is the only version with luxury wheel.
Three options available
The 2022 Kia Picanto offering includes 3 trim levels. In all cases power comes from the old 1.2-liter L4 naturally aspirated engine with 87 hp and 90 lb-ft of torque. The transmission can be a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed automatic gearbox. All versions have electro-assisted steering and the suspension system is McPherson (independent) on the front axle, and the rear axle has a torsion axle.
Among the urban city vehicles that aspire to rival the Kia Picanto are models such as the Citroën C1, the Fiat Panda, the Hyundai i10, the Renault Twingo, the SEAT Mii and the Toyota Aygo.

Kia Picanto engines
The Kia Picanto is available with three engines, all gasoline, with three and four cylinders depending on the chosen block. The standard, naturally aspirated engine is the 1.0 DPi. It has three cylinders and offers 67 hp, also featuring a dual injection system (direct + indirect) being associated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Above, the Kia Picanto offers the 1.2 DPi engine, again with dual injection system, but this time with 4 cylinders and a maximum power of 84 hp. It is also associated with a 5-speed manual gearbox but, similarly to what happens with the 1.0 DPi engine, it can have an automated gearbox also with 5 ratios.
